St. Armands Circle Real Estate
Circus magnate John Ringling purchased the property that is today's St. Armands Key in 1917. His vision for this unique planned development included a shopping area laid out in a circle, European-style, in addition to residential homes. Ringling Circus elephants were used to haul in the timbers to build the bridge that would connect the area to the mainland.
Today's St. Armands Circle is a shopping & entertainment district unparalleled in the world; its large roundabout circles a tranquil park which hosts numerous public events year-round. The shops, restaurants and businesses on the Circle are upscale - here you can find everything from fine jewelry to a new outfit for Fido (or Fifi.)
After shopping, walk over to nearby Lido Beach, an original eco-haven. Just a short stroll down this pristine beach will reveal many varieties of sea life; sea shells, sea turtle nesting grounds and protected bird habitats, in addition to the more human outdoor activities of volleyball, fishing and people-watching.
By now it's getting dark and the Circle is really coming alive - pick your choice in international cuisine ranging from the Columbia's legendary 1905 salad and signature Cuban bread to Cafe L'Europe's traditional French Chateaubriand for two. Continuing the international circle, your evening ends with you hoisting a pint to new friends at Lynches Pub and Grub, an authentic Irish neighborhood pub.
St. Armands, you've come full circle.
PS - "Namesake," some real estate trivia:
Charles St. Amand bought property on this island in 1893. However, his name was misspelled (as "St. Armand") in the land deeds, and this misspelled name is still used today for this area. Lesson learned: when conducting a real estate transaction, remember to double-check your name spelling, as your legacy will surely live on for decades!
