Picturesque views of the Gulf of Mexico that offer breathtaking sunsets are rare in Sarasota as many have been demolished to create spaces for larger, high-rise condos - however Lido Shores remains one of the finest waterfront communities in Sarasota. This development is quite spectacular with the sandy beach deeded private to the mean high tide line.
The 116 homes in the Lido C and Lido Shores neighborhoods were constructed from 1947 to 2009 and range in size from 1,100 square feet to over 9,000.
St. Armand’s Key, one of the more exciting areas in Sarasota, borders the community of Lido Shores. The circle of shops that surrounds the area offer one of the most exciting places to go shopping in the greater Sarasota area. This area was the vision of John Ringling, the circus, who purchased the property in 1917 and planned the development which included residential lots and a shopping center laid out in a circle.
The impressive collection of marble sculptures of ancient Greek Gods found throughout the circle is nothing short of stunning; many of the sculptures were from Ringling’s personal collection. Also on St, Armand’s circle is Sarasota’s oldest restaurant, the Columbia Restaurant. This establishment opened its doors on the key in 1959.
Looking for a private estate on the beach? There are some amazing properties that sit on Lido Key beach overlooking the gorgeous waters of the Gulf of Mexico. All residents of Lido Shores have a deeded beach access so they play on Lido Key beach very easily.
Some of the most expensive real estate in Sarasota, Florida can be found on Westway Drive. There are several large estates that sit on the beach as well as newer traditional and modern homes that sit comfortably on New Pass overlooking the water and south Longboat Key. If you are looking for boat access, the Lido Shores Sarasota waterfront homes that border New Pass offer boat docks and direct, unobstructed access to the Gulf. Take note, however; this location may not be suitable for larger boats that are not capable of being lifted dockside. Boats of over 35 foot in length would be better suited to find a bayfront property or keep your boat docked at one of the many local marinas or convenient yacht clubs in the area. We recommend Bird Key if you are looking for a residence that can accommodate a large vessel.
