1) Beaches - Sarasota, Florida is well known for the gorgeous beaches. Visitors from all over the world come to Sarasota to frollick on the beaches and play in the water. There are many wonderful beaches to enjoy in the area. Looking for a beach with a little action? Visit the world reknowned Siesta Key beach. It is consistently ranked as one of the world's prettiest beaches. The white sand is made up of quartz that is quite refreshing. Looking for a little more peace and quiet? Go to Longboat Key beach. There you can feel like the entire beach belongs to you and just a few others. There is not a large public beach with plenty of parking so the beach is very quiet. You could walk for miles and only see a few people. You could also visit the popular Lido Key beach. There is a public beach and parking lot so you will normally see plenty of people. However, you can always walk to the north end of Lido Key where it is a little more private. The north section of the beach is situated along a preserve so it does not have any condos for homes. Anna Maria Island, Manasota Key and Venice Island also have wonderful beaches, each with their own flavor. That is one great thing about living in the Sarasota area is that you have a wide variety of beaches to enjoy.

2) Fun on St. Armands Circle - This is one of my favorite places to grab a meal with a friend of family. A few of the restaurants include Cafe L' Europe, Columbia, Cha Cha Coconuts, 15 South, Tommy Bahamas, Hemingways, Le Colonne and Crab & Fin. Many of the restaurants offer outdoor dining. If you enjoy people watching this is a great place to do it.

3) Walk over the Ringling Bridge - This is the bridge that connects downtown Sarasota to Bird Key and Lido Key. You will often see people running and walking over the bridge. It is a great place to get a little exercise. Ringling Bridge is a fixed span bridge with a walkign path seperated by a concrete barrier from the road. There are fabulous views from the top of the bridge. You can see the gorgeous Sarasota bay, downtown skyline, Longboat Key, Siesta Key, Harbour Acres, Lido Key and Bird Key.

4) Find some Shark Teeth - Take a trip down to Venice island or Manasota Key and find some shark teeth on the beach. My family and I spent the Labor Day weekend on Manasota Key and a friend's beach house. One of the big hitswith my kids was the search for shark teeth on the beach. Collecting prehistoric sharks teeth has been a favorite pastime of visitors and residents of the Venice area for years. They may be black, brown, or gray, depending on the minerals in the soil in which they have been buried.

5) Play a round of golf - There are many great places to play some golf in the Sarasota area. Gather up some friends or friends and enjoy half a day playing in the yard. A few of the courses you might play on - Bent Tree, Serenoa, Concession, Founders Club, The Oaks, Legacy, University Park, River Club, Laurel Oak or The Longboat Key Club.
