I was trading text messages with Shayla over the weekend. She went to Wisconsin for Christmas. She was commenting on how it was 5 below zero and snow everywhere. The above photo is sunset on Siesta Key. You can see it here.
Below all of that snow is a car. It does not surprise me that so many people come down here for vacation, to winter or live here to escape those cold, hard winters.

The office was rumbling yesterday with the latest Sarasota real estate news. Signature Sotheby's International Realty has purchased Premier Properties of Sarasota. I heard the rumors yesterday but wasn't sure they were true until it hit the Sarasota Herald Tribune website yesterday afternoon.
I noticed in the newspaper article they said, "Signature's acquisition of Premier now means it could be in a strong position to control a sizable portion of the luxury market." That was interesting to me so I decided to check out who dominated the luxury Sarasota real estate market. I went to Trendgraphix which is a software program that tracks Sarasota real estate sales and manipulates the data so we can look at it in charts and graphs.

Home For $8,500 - Sarasota Foreclosure

Look at this home in Newtown Terrace. This is the least expensive home for sale in Sarasota and Manatee counties. It is a Freddie Mac foreclosure and is listed at $8,500. It sold in 2005 for $120,000. I wonder how much work it needs. I am really surprised that it is still on the market. I am guessing the listing agent is juggling several offers and has not taken it to pending in the Sarasota MLS system.
