Pros:

Great restaurants, can walk to the marina, Saturday mornings at farmers market.

Cons:

Summary:

If moving to SRQ I would highly consider downtown. Airport is only a few miles away. St Armonds circle just a nice walk over the bridge.

Pros:

Downtown is vibrant. Almost everything you need is within walking distance.

Cons:

There is a homeless problem. There is a crowd of vocal civil rights activists who probably don't live downtown yet want to give homeless free rein to do and lie around where ever they want. Too many homeless people congregating around downtown is not a good image.

Summary:

We love the convenience of living downtown. Lido beach is within a bike ride or short car ride. We make it over there frequently to enjoy the sunsets. If you are moving to Sarasota I would definitely consider living downtown.

Pros:

Very walkable to everything. Things to enjoy: Farmers Market, Epicure, 2 Senoritas, Caragioulos, Mozaic, Patricks, El Greco, Burns Court Cinema, Florida Studio Theatre, Van Wezel.....and so on.

Cons:

The drama between government, homeless and liberal tree huggers.

Summary:

We love living in downtown Sarasota. Walking to just about everything is a big appeal to us. No need to jump in the car and fight traffic to enjoy great restaurants and fun. There aren't many cities that offer all of these amenities.

Pros:

We love the action. Walk to shows, movies, restaurants, dining and fun.

Cons:

The homeless can get annoying.

Summary:

We love living downtown. The action is great. However, we lately have been thinking about a house west of the trail.

Cons:

Homeless

Summary:

I love living downtown. The energy and people are great. I lived in the suburbs for a long time and am enjoying this lifestyle much more.
